A Day in the Life - San Mateo High School
Science in the ErdKinder Classroom
Developing our Microscope Skills
This week, we did our first science experiment for the year. We learned how to use a microscope with prepared slides. We were getting used to adjusting the microscope using the fine adjustment and the coarse adjustment. We took photos of the images in the microscope to share!

HS Camping
2014 Erdkinder Fall Camping at the Farm 9/9-9/12/2014
Last week, the EK students spent four days at the farm. Fall is an extremely busy time. We weeded and harvested as the farmers have many markets to attend. Green Oaks Creek Farm produce is at the San Mateo Farmers' market which is held at the College of San Mateo.
Fog rolls in on a camping morning.
Is everyone up and ready? We have a busy day ahead!
A beautiful sunrise.
Tacos for dinner!
Relaxing at the table after a hard day's work.
Getting duff for "Ralph" (The bathroom). We put duff in the toilet to keep it fresh and tidy!
Our challenge: to all jump on a hay bale!
More duff (we use the toilet a lot).
Returning the wheelbarrow!
Bacon and eggs for breakfast!
"Quickly before the flies get it!" This year, there are a lot of flies at the farm. The farmers think it is because of the drought.
In addition to all of the fall activity, the farm is getting ready for a big wedding in October. We spent a lot of time this visit preparing the ornamental garden for these upcoming festivities!
Getting bins full of mulch to spread in the ornamental garden, to keep the weeds off the path. We fetched and moved over 30 bins of mulch.
Spreading more mulch... Yay.
More spreading mulch across the garden.
Best Friends Forever!
"Oh no Fiona don't get eaten by the plants!" We are weeding the beets and carrots.
A job well done!
I'm coming home, I'm coming home, tell the world that I'm coming home!
Thanks for reading our blog! The EK students.
