A Special Lunch in Millbrae
On July 8th, the Elementary students went out on an excursion to find some delicious lunch food. After some decision, we decided to go to a Dim Sum restaurant in Millbrae called "The Kitchen". As we are not old enough to drive there ourselves yet, we had to figure out a means of transportation. We looked up where the restaurant was and discovered that it was nearby the Millbrae BART station, which also has a Caltrain stop. We agreed that we could walk to the Burlingame train station to take the Caltrain to Millbrae, and then walk to the restaurant for some delicious Dim Sum. After making up the plan, and figuring out how much money we would need to bring, we were ready to go!
We walked to the Burlingame Caltrain station, which took us about 15 minutes.
When we got to the train station, we had to purchase our train tickets. We each took turns at the ticketing machine.
Finally, we arrived at the restaurant and were seated. We poured ourselves some tea while we waited for the food to come around.
When the food arrived, we were eager for our turn to choose which dish we wanted to try at the turn table.
"The Cha Shao Bao (BBQ Pork Buns) look appetizing."
We were so hungry that we decided that we wanted to try more dishes.
"More Dim Sum!"
"What should we order?"
"I'll have this dish, thank you."
We watch the crabs and the fish as we waited for the food to come.
"I wonder if they're looking at us too..."
After the meal, it was time for the check. We thought that perhaps the restaurant would appreciate some spare change, so we paid them in quarters.
The hostess double checked our calculations before we left.
It was quite a delicious meal. We experienced the proper etiquette for dining at a Dim Sum restaurant. We ordered food on our own and learn about the names of the different dishes. At The Kitchen, we tried their Cha Shao Bao, Dan Ta, Sesame Balls, Chicken Feet, Sponge Cake, and many more dishes. Now, the next time we go to a Dim Sum restaurant, we'll be able to order on our own!

What a great afternoon! Sounds fun for everyone including the staff that was paid in quarters ;-) Kudos to those for trying the chicken feet! Tastes like the rest of the chicken? ;-)
