Elementary Market: San Mateo

Thanks to all who came out to support the EC market fundraiser. We had a large turnout for the event, and the market was a great success!

Preparing for the market took a lot of forethought and hard work. We each planned our business from the ground up–deciding what to sell, what ingredients or materials would be needed, and making signs and flyers in order to advertise the event.

We worked together for several weeks creating the handmade goods.

Making friendship bracelets.

And origami crafts.

And creating unique Mother's Day cards.
We prepared our homemade foods ahead of time.

And despite a small setback (we had to move the outdoor market inside due to the rain), everyone seemed to have a great time!

Hot Dog Stand.

Mexican Food.

Filipino Food.

Hawaiian Food.

Fresh Squeezed Lemonade.

Prepackaged S'mores.

Fruit Smoothies.

Thanks to the CH and Erdkinder levels for stopping by our market!

CH students enjoying s'mores.
More CH students enjoying s'mores.
After all our earnings were counted, we learned that we reached our classroom goal. We raised $700 in profit! This money will be used for EC activities in the coming school year including outings,  cooking, science experiments, supplies for Piper, our bearded dragon, and much more!

Thanks again to all those who came out to support the Elementary Community!

A Day in the Life: Emeryville Children's House

I'm helping laoshi clip the laundry onto the drying rack.
The nice weather for Earth Day today should help it dry faster!

Cherry Blossom Outing - San Mateo

CH children in the Japanese program went to the Japanese Garden in San Mateo Central Park.

We are wrapping our lunch boxes by using Japanese "Furoshiki."

We enjoyed seeing the beautiful blooming flowers in the garden!

We saw many carps in the pond! Look at how they are swimming towards us!

It feels so good to eat outside in the warm sun.

We ended our trip by cleaning and washing our lunch boxes.

A Day in the Life: Emeryville Children's House

I am getting more comfortable using the Story Box to compose short paragraphs. Today I wrote about what I did this weekend! After I wrote my story in my best handwriting, I got to illustrate it.

A Day in the Life: San Mateo Children's House

Children's House is learning about the seven continents and what animals can be found there! 'Around the World from a to z', from Hands-on-Prints, is a perfect supplement to this lesson with its sandpaper letters and visually stimulating images of the different landscapes and activities around the world.

A Day in the Life: San Mateo Infant Community

We had our first yoga practice!

We're doing our best in the upward-facing dog pose.

Ahh... child's pose is so comfortable.

Downward-facing dog is a challenge.

Yoga is a good way to stretch and move our bodies.
