Japanese Children's Day Celebration, Emeryville

Children's House children fold origami to make

 "Koi-nobori"and decorated the classroom windows.

CHの子供たちは折り紙で作った鯉のぼりで、教室の窓を飾りました。

We invited Aoba Taiko Team and we enjoyed a Japanese traditional Taiko performance.

青葉太鼓チームの皆様にお越しいただいて、日本の伝統的な太鼓の演奏を楽しみました。

The children had the chance to play with real Taiko.

子供たちも本物の太鼓を体験させてもらいました。

The Children's House children made "Udon" from scratch for a special lunch.

ＣＨの子供たちは、粉からうどん作りに挑戦。お昼ごはんにいただきました。

We also made a soup base with dried fish, dried seaweed and soy sauce.

昆布、にぼし、おしょうゆを入れて。うどんのだしも、手作りです。

In the afternoon, we enjoyed Japanese games.The first was sumo wrestling.

お昼ごはんの後は、日本の遊びを楽しみました。まずは、すもうです。

Then Tsuna-Hiki and Tama-Ire took a turn. Both teams did their best.

それから、つなひきとたまいれ。どちらのチームも全力でがんばりました。

 

The children experienced different kinds of activities at each booth.

ブースでいろいろな体験もしました。

We had a great time celebrating Japanese Children's Day.
