Making Props in the High School for Spring Festival

Major creativity happening in the EK/HS as we ready for Spring Festival!

Spring Festival is right around the corner and it's a hive of activity in the San Mateo HS program as everyone pitches in to make props, costumes and all of the elements that go into a fun theatrical event.

There is a tremendous amount of practical life and problem-solving that occurs at this time of year, with the emphasis being on collaboration, debate, creativity, artistry and fun. It one of our favorite times of year at PRINTS and we cannot wait to show you the fruits of our labor at next week's festival!

Using visual references to outline props
Figuring out how to stabilize large cardboard props on stage
Problem-solving around a large, elaborate prop-piece.
Keeping track of what we have made, and what's still outstanding for each vignette
The plan worked! Our prop will be stable and robust.
Rehearsing in the dance studio. We still need to learn our lines.
Practicing our interaction - we rehearse many times to get timing and emphasis just right.
Some of our props are exaggerated for humor!
Everyone pitched in to help with stitching some key props.
Not sure how we would do Spring Festival without cardboard from Costco!
Debating over an approach.
Cutting more cardboard.
Checking references for authenticity in Japanese for our Japanese vignette.
Fixing some costuming. Fine hand work still counts in the high school program.
