A Day in the Life: San Mateo Children's House

Today is 端午節 (duan wu jie), the Dragon Boat Festival!

We learned about 粽子 (zong zi), a food that is eaten on this holiday.

Laoshi is opening up the wrapped zong zi to show us what is inside!

Zong zi is made with glutinous rice stuffed with different fillings like meat, mushrooms, egg, and more! Then it is wrapped in bamboo leaves for steaming.

We looked at pictures of dragon boats that are raced during this festival.

We then looked at different fruits! We tasted a fig.

We enjoyed eating zong zi for lunch!
